Avoiding Weight Loss Plateaus

Almost every single diet plateaus at some point. It seems inevitable-you stick to your diet and exercise routine and the weight starts falling off. Eventually, you may reach a point at which your weight loss plateaus and your weight loss stops. However, that doesn’t mean you are not losing inches. Often, as weight loss slows or stops, your body will continue to change, resulting in smaller arms, waist and thighs.

If you see your weight loss slowing and are concerned about facing a plateau, talk to us about the possibility of cutting your calories or changing the source of your calories. After looking at your diet, your doctor may suggest different types of food that offer nutritional value in quantities you need, but with fewer calories. For instance, if you are eating high calorie carbohydrates, your doctor or nutritionist may suggest you cut those servings in half and replace one half with a low fat, high protein food that is lower in calories.

It is important to stay positive, whether you are able to avoid the plateau or not. When you stay positive and motivated, you can face the challenge of a plateau with the help of your doctor and get the weight loss rolling again.
